Launched at the International Nursery Fair in October 2023, Designability’s accessible pushchair was announced as the winner of The Baby Products Association’s 2023 Concept and Innovation Award. It has also won two European Product Design Awards: the best ’Design for Humanity’ and the ‘Top Design Winner in Families & Kids / Gear and Strollers’ categories in 2024.

These awards recognise the groundbreaking nature of creating a solution for disabled parents, without compromising on design, functionality or affordability.

Designability believes the product design industry is starting to consider accessibility more seriously, but that we are only at the beginning of this journey. Many aspects of daily life are still not adequately addressed with too many people continuing to face limitations in their lives. Simply put, we still live in a world which is largely not designed with disabled people in mind.

The accessible pushchair project serves as a clear example: there are hundreds of pushchair models on the market, yet there is no available product worldwide that meets the needs of disabled parents and carers.

This is a product that really can change the everyday lives of disabled parents and carers and their families.
