The AccuQuilt GO! Bolt is a motorised die cutter that helps quilters quickly and precisely cut fabric shapes, providing a major advantage over traditional hand-held tools. AccuQuilt has been the leader in the fabric die-cutter space since introducing the hand-crank GO! Cutter in 2008. This was followed by the motorised GO! Big, which can cut through multiple layers of tough fabric and accommodate larger dies.
In response to the success of the GO! Big, AccuQuilt asked Fahrenheit to develop a smaller, more affordable motorised die cutter, the GO! Bolt. The Bolt is less than half the weight and a fraction of the footprint of the GO! Big and provides many similar advantages in a compact package, with a friendly, iconic design.
The GO! Bolt is designed with both new and existing demographics in mind, embodying AccuQuilt’s vision of making quilting more accessible. The traditional quilting demographic – women over the age of 60 – values the transportability of the Bolt, which enables social quilting outside the home.
Given the prevalence of arthritis among these users, the Bolt also eliminates some of the most significant sources of strain in the quilting process, empowering people to more freely pursue their craft. Finally, the friendlier price point and sleek design appeal to a growing cohort of young quilters.
To use the Bolt, quilters “set up” their cuts by placing several layers of fabric on a die and covering it with a cutting mat. After pressing the power button, they feed the die with the fabric into the mouth of the machine. Powerful rollers compress the fabric into the blades of the die, cutting pristine shapes as the die is fed out the back.
It is sometimes useful to have platforms in front and/or behind the machine, on which dies can glide. This is particularly beneficial with AccuQuilt’s longest dies, which exceed 24”. AccuQuilt thus also developed the GO! Bolt die catcher, an accessory that supports dies as they go into or out of the machine. It also provides a surface for users to set up their cuts on. Users can add one or two die catchers as they choose.
Two of these accessories can be stored by nesting one atop the other or by standing up on end. On the bottom of each die catcher is an elegant strap system for storing the Bolt’s power adapter. Users can leave the adapter in this spot permanently, simply feeding the cables to the machine and the wall outlet when using the device.
