Developing the project of the new 0.92 bottle, we immediately shared with the company the intuition of not wanting to make copies of the previous 0.70 model, released in 2020 and now become a small classic, but rather to put the two objects in relation as could happen in a family relationship. Once again the work focused on the dimensions of the icon and the archetype, in themselves constructs driven by a desire for meaning and durability over time.
To give an example among many, the foot of the bottle which allows the movement of the scuffing (the consumption of the glass by abrasion, due to the subsequent movements in the box and in the industrial chain) in an invisible area. The “white line” which is generally a defect in these bottles becomes an advantage and allows even more light to be conveyed towards the water.
The bottle contains particular attention to the user’s gestures. The part that narrows towards three-quarters of the bottle serves to indicate the gripping point by touch, without needing to involve sight. Glass has limits that we wanted to take to the extremes of industrial production, experimenting and daring. Finally, the shape of both bottles generates an invisible, implicit structural reinforcement. So the bottle is very resistant to breakage.
At the base there is a particular curvature of the glass, capable of generating a sort of lens, which allows the light from the environment to be collected and projected inside the bottle which thus becomes particularly “luminous”, a very important detail in our perception of water quality. Circularity is an intrinsic element in this bottle that live in a chain of reuse of glass.
The entire design process was built with the desire to generate a sort of virtuous mechanism, in this sense circularity is always an opportunity. For example, the disappearance of the label is at the same time a characterizing visual element, a way to highlight and achieve maximum transparency and a facilitation of industrial production which frees itself from two steps (removing and gluing the label), not that the elimination of a specification item.
The shape of the bottle itself, in particular the foot and the neck, were designed with a particular focus on durability in relation to the washing and filling machines, before redistribution. By making the process simpler and quicker, the consumption of energy as well as raw materials is enormously reduced.
