Design Brief
The Analog-1 is a folding bicycle designed with a beautiful tubular space structure. This distinctive design allows for a sophisticated geometrical arrangement of the hinges and the integration of a high-performance air shock absorber. The bicycle enhances the innovation of folding bicycles by improving ride comfort, providing a more advanced folding mechanism, and presenting a more aesthetically pleasing tubular space frame.
Design Innovation
As urbanization accelerates, occupying space becomes more expensive, making space-saving solutions more valuable. Therefore, an important performance indicator of a folding bicycle is how compactly it folds, which is determined by the arrangement of hinges. Traditional folding bikes have hinges placed at specific positions due to the thickness of the tubes.
In the Analog-1, thinner tubes enable an advanced geometric arrangement of the hinges. Two hinges are placed on the main frame between the handle and the seat post, allowing the bike to achieve a smaller volume when folded. Despite the main frame consisting of three pieces, it retains adequate stiffness due to the tubular space structure.
A conventional air shock absorber is applied in this folding bicycle through a patent-pending ‘Shock Folding Linkage System.’ The shock absorber connects to the rear wheel, allowing it to be stored together when folded. This innovation makes the Analog-1 the only tubular space frame folding bicycle in the world, the smallest folding bike with 20″ wheels, and the bike that guarantees maximized riding comfort with an air shock absorber. It maintains functionality and beauty, presenting exquisite proportions whether unfolded or folded.
User Benefit
When purchasing a folding bicycle, users often seek high riding performance and compact size. These two elements are typically decided by the size of the wheel. Bigger wheels (20″) provide better riding performance, while smaller wheels (16″) allow for a more compact fold. Meeting both conditions simultaneously is challenging.
Unlike traditional folding bicycles that prioritize compactness with 16-inch wheels, the Analog-1 advances riding performance by using wheels larger than 20 inches. This bicycle offers a solution that meets both the high riding performance and compact size that bike riders seek.
The Beauty
The tubular space frame of the Analog-1 is inherently beautiful. Much like the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Harbor Bridge in Sydney, steel tubes intersect and combine to create straight and curved shapes. The overall shape, formed by the combination of the thin members of the tubular space frame, offers endless possibilities.
Inspired by running beasts, the Analog-1 is designed as a bicycle using tubular space construction. This unique design not only enhances functionality but also maintains an aesthetic appeal that stands out whether the bicycle is in use or folded.
