Booth is designed to create biophilic interaction spaces that are fresh yet familiar, taking the warmth, comfort and intimacy of a widely enjoyed indoor seating experience and reimagining it for the outdoors. It’s a social design and familiar typology, intended to define spaces that bring people together outdoors, encourage closeness, and foster a more profound connection to nature.
Designed by Landscape Forms, Booth includes two seating silhouettes, a tall back booth and a low back booth, designed to meet face-to-face in pairs that inspire and enhance interaction. Rounded corners and softened edges create a comfortable character, while a subtle flare to the form of the seat and metal support structure offers a friendly, inviting gesture. Both the tall back and low back booths feature warm, fillet-edged wood slats for the seat and back, and the design for the tall back booth includes an additional powdercoated metal portion atop the back to enhance a sense of privacy and accentuate the room-within-a-room experience.
In addition to providing a warm and welcoming seating experience, Booth’s particular choice of wood is a critical aspect of its commitment to sustainability. The line utilizes dassoXTR Fused Bamboo, an innovative approach to outdoor wood that’s incredibly stable and durable, elegantly dark in color, and is highly sustainable with low environmental impact due to the fast-growing, rapidly renewable nature of bamboo. It is manufactured using a patented process which combines two stages of high heat to first carbonize the bamboo, removing all the starch and sugar, and then restructure the bamboo, reinforcing its natural strength. The modified bamboo strands are then fused together using phenolic resin. This resin is thermal setting and non-reversible, meaning it contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and no fumes are released into the atmosphere.
During installation, two Booths fit tightly together when arranged back-to-back, enabling space-efficient groupings for generous outdoor seating and dining space. Booth can also stand alone as an architectural bench, as an accessible one-sided booth, or against a wall as modern banquette-style seating. This versatility in arrangement coupled with Booth’s distinct design focus on balancing openness and accessibility with semi-privacy efficiently enables a single solution to create a new wealth of possibilities in the way people engage with outdoor space—from dining, to socializing, to outdoor work and group collaboration.
Booth is crafted using pre- and post-consumer recycled material—up to 66.6% depending on how the solution is specified. It ships using 100% recyclable packing materials and, at the end of a long, hardwearing life, Booth itself is 100% recyclable.
