Founded by Jordan Nathan in 2019, Caraway set out on a mission to craft well-designed home goods that thoughtfully raise the standards of what you cook with. In September 2023, Caraway expanded into a new category with the launch of the Prep Set.

The set includes ten essential knives, shears, and utensils designed for chopping better, prepping cleaner, and storing easier, along with an innovative, modular organization unit. Caraway and their design partner have created a flexible system that supports how people prepare meals for different occasions and environments, and ensured the Prep Set elevates your food prep experience in use, and is a joy to have at home when not in use. The knives, utensils, prep system, and cutting boards were designed so all pieces look and feel as one cohesive product family.

While most prepping tools are made from harmful plastics, the Prep Set is crafted with German stainless steel, FSC-certified birch wood, and 100% BPA-free plastic so you don’t think twice about chemicals leaching into your food. Microplastics left behind from plastic utensils while cooking are known to be harmful to the body which is why Caraway has designed the spoon, scraper, spatula, tongs and server from FSC-certified birch wood to avoid any trace amounts.

Beyond removing harmful plastics from one’s kitchen prep, the team did extensive research to learn which products are most beneficial in the prepping stages. Prepware is often sold with twenty-plus utensils and knives but our team paired this down to ten effective items to complete the kitchen.

The Prep Set is designed to work seamlessly within the home. Rather than loosely storing knives and utensils in drawers or containers, the design creatively includes a modular organization unit to keep your knives sharp and utensils tidy. This unit fits all ten essential items and is intentionally designed to be showcased on your countertop or neatly stored away in a drawer.

Both the utensil storage unit and knife block nest within a magnetic tray to hold them in place while on a countertop, or removed while cooking to keep the utensils you’re using handy.
