In recent years, home ownership costs have surged, leaving many Americans unable to buy property or plan for the future. Meanwhile, the shift to remote and hybrid work has increased the demand for affordable, flexible, and sustainable off-grid living options.
To meet this demand, Pininfarina partnered with AC Future to conceptualise the Electric Transformer House (eTH), a cutting-edge mobile living space aiming to revolutionize traditional RVs by integrating advanced technology, eco-friendly features, and customizable living spaces. In addition to designing the interiors and exterior of the mobile living unit, Pininfarina crafted the product’s unique brand identity, including the logo and all brand assets.
The eTH addresses the need for alternative housing solutions, particularly among younger people who desire mobility and flexibility but face challenges affording traditional homes. It offers a multifunctional living space tailored to the modern nomadic lifestyle, and its affordability compared to traditional homes and similar vehicles makes it especially attractive to those prioritizing flexibility and mobility.
The eTH’s capabilities go beyond those of a traditional RV — it is a completely unique travel and living experience. It offers expandable structures tailored to different living habits and preferences, ideal for short-distance adventures or as additional spaces alongside a primary residence.
Each unit includes Starlink connectivity, copilot assistance, and customizable color options for both the interior and exterior.
One of the standout features of the eTH is its movable walls, expanding the living space to 400 sq ft at the touch of a button.
Its retractable solar panel roof generates over 25 kWh of electricity, promoting sustainable living. Additionally, the eTH features an Atmospheric Water Generator system, producing up to 50 L of clean water daily from ambient moisture.
The integration of sustainable features like solar panels and water generation systems aligns with eco-conscious values, addressing environmental concerns while providing self-sufficiency during off-grid travels. By tackling the challenge of affordable housing and flexible living arrangements, the eTH will empower individuals to embrace alternative lifestyles through innovative design, advanced technology, and sustainability principles.
