Metaverse and VR technologies are evolving to the point where the distinction between virtual and reality becomes ambiguous. In line with this trend, Hyundai Elevator has developed a VR elevator simulator that allows the customers to check elevator products more realistically. In many case, when customers decide to buy elevators, they can only rely on photos or rendered images provided in the catalogue. This is because elevators are not usually ready-made but bespoke. As a result, many customers complain about the gap between the pre-check design and the actual installation after purchase and construction. This VR-based system allows customers to select and combine various elements of an elevator such as ceilings, handrails, and wall materials. It helps customers make purchasing choices by changing the elevator design to their own taste and experiencing it in real time. Through this experience, customers can check images of products that are similar to the actual product. We expect to improve customer satisfaction after installation and construction.
After accessing the platform webpage, users are asked to select ceiling and wall materials, and then flooring. The layout of the webpage is designed to be intuitive so that users can easily understand the types of elevator components of our company at a glance. It’s easy to use and accessible to everyone. On the next page, the user can see the elevator specifications they selected in VR images.
Elevator VR simulation platform can also be accessed on smartphones. You can rotate the VR view by touching the screen, look up and down to experience the realistic elevator interior. This can be very helpful when it comes to elevator sales. Elevator salesperson can show the VR image to customers right on their smartphone, which can lead to a quick selection and purchase. Without meeting the salesperson, customers can also easily access the salesperson’s contact information by pressing the ‘Contact Us’ button in the bottom of the page.
VR images can be explored in 360 degrees with mouse dragging, and can feel as if you are actually in the elevator. You can click on every elevator components (such as floor indicators, OPBs, handrails, etc) and change to another design. The ceiling design and wall materials you have already set are also changable. You can even apply some etching patterns on the walls. You can capture the current screen image by clicking the ‘CAPTURE’ button, which can be used for purchase consultation.
The elevator VR simulator contains Hyundai Elevator’s vision to take a step closer to customers through new technologies beyond paper catalogs. We hope that more customers will be able to get design insights through VR simulators and find and purchase products that suit their tastes.
