Ensō is a lamp inspired by the art of Shodo: it stems from the desire to transform a two-dimensional gesture into a three-dimensional object.
In the art of Japanese calligraphy, the Ensō symbol represents enlightenment, a hand-drawn circle that Enzo Catellani designed leaving it open. The structure, characterized by the unmistakable irregular surface, made with an exclusive Catellani & Smith’s technique, is hand-painted in blue and rests on a brass base.
On the back, eleven LED sources, emit a diffused light towards a wall. Ensō is a sculptural lamp capable of defining a space even when turned off.
Ensō is designed and manufactured to last over time thanks to the use of high-quality materials and to the replaceability of each component of the lamp.
By using high-efficiency LED sources (lm/W), Ensō minimizes consumption while guaranteeing a nominal output of 1750 lumens with a power of 17 W and a high color rendering index (CRI>90). The lamp is based on a patented wireless electrical connection and distribution system designed, engineered, and manufactured by Catellani & Smith.
