From wide strips of interwoven leather, covering a soft and cozy inner layer, the Envelope armchair takes its shape. Combining robustness and softness, the design evokes memories of vernacular culture and the tanneries from designer Ilse Lang’s homeland, the state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil.
Its internal steel structure is enveloped in leather – a feature that gives it its name – with the leather being folded and hand-stitched to form the backrest and arms. The natural, thick texture of the Culatra leather, which creates a continuous surface, brings a clean look to the design.
The piece also features a swivel base, ensuring mobility and comfort in the armchair, which comes to life by revisiting the Sela chair, a design piece already part of the +55 portfolio.
From the exploration of simple forms to achieve maximum ergonomics, timelessness emerges, present both in the quality of the materials and in the sophistication of the production processes at +55 Design – a Brazilian contemporary brand that, from conception to manufacture, controls all stages of product development in collaboration with guest designers.
