In collaboration with Lenovo, Pininfarina has designed the ‘world’s first kiss-activated trophy.’ Although the trophy might look classic, it hides a high-tech heart. In fact, when the winning driver puts their lips to the trophy, it lights up in the colors of their national flag, not only enhancing the sense of pride for the driver but also creating a visual spectacle for the viewers (both at the circuit and at home).
The shape is inspired by the main air intake on F1 cars combined with a parametric pattern designed to mirror the proportions of the Lenovo logo and to allow the light to glow through the trophy dynamically. When kissed, flag colors explode from the trophy with a brilliant luster. The Lenovo trophy was first seen during the podium ceremony of the 2023 Japanese GP and the exclusive design was unveiled at the U.S. GP in late October 2023.
Dreamed up by Lenovo and fashioned by iconic design firm Pininfarina, the trophy’s striking shape mirrors the air intake on F1 cars and features a parametric pattern that echoes the proportions of the Lenovo logo. The trophy marks Pininfarina’s integration info Formula 1’s rich history by connecting innovative technology into the design.
Overall, F1 is harnessing Lenovo’s smarter solutions to ensure the sport’s sustainable future. From cutting-edge hardware to data collection solutions, from high performance computing to advanced services, Lenovo is helping F1 push the boundaries of what’s possible.
