FUWARI is a lighting fixture with its gentle light as if it were floating in the space. It is named after the Japanese word “Fu-n-wari” which means floating softly.
The unique design of curved shades is deformed by incremental forming, a technique of sheet metal forming, applying small increments of deformations using round-tipped tool into thin metal sheet which makes each piece special.
The treatment creates the unique texture inside of the shades which allows to diffuse the light effectively. While the appearance itself stays simple, it shows you various faces in accordance with a way of hanging or with an angle you see. It can be used for multiple configurations mixing the sizes, lengths, and angles in order to fit in the various spaces.
