Hashira means pillar in Japanese.
The Hashira table is a sculptural table made from materials both noble and honest: wood and marble. Its sculptural appearance comes from its four generously sized conical legs. Nonetheless this table has been designed not to be in the way when people sit around the table.
These legs give a real presence to the table, making it very recognizable and therefore rather iconic.
The sculpted appearance of the table also comes from the work on the wooden edge of the top since it is defined by a worked curve that continues in the edge of the marble.
