The KUKA KR FORTEC-2 ultra is the world’s first series-produced robot with a double linking arm to move and position very high loads of up to 800 kg / 1764 lbs extremely quickly and with absolute precision. This unique selling point is its special strength, which lies in the absolute efficiency when handling and processing heavy and large components in the smallest and therefore cost-saving space.
The demands of the industry on robotics have increased enormously in recent years. Clients are demanding robots that can move very high loads quickly and precisely to a defined point. The KUKA KR FORTEC-2 was specially developed for these extraordinary tasks and replaces its predecessor with more than double the load capacity. Despite the increased demands, the repeat accuracy is now 80 micrometers / 0.003 inch and its cycle times have also been significantly reduced.
These requirements could be technically solved with the help of two robot linking arms and the use of four gears on the relevant axes. The motors have proved to be powerful enough, each driving two gearboxes synchronously.
Even under extreme loads, the machine guarantees reliable, precise long-term operation with consistent production quality. With an extremely low mass of only 2400kg / 5291 lbs for its payload class, the KR Fortec-2 ultra achieves an outstanding weight/load ratio.
Organically designed, powerful components give the robot a lively appearance and visualize the performance and mobility of the machine. Mechanically, they ensure high flexural strength and torsional rigidity, which is important for precise, reliable work. Flowing shape transitions withstand the enormous power flow and the extreme physical dynamic properties.
The robot has no superfluous cover parts. Each visible component also has its technical function.
The robot design with its double linking arm shows the customer unmistakably that it is a robust yet very agile, dynamic machine. It was trimmed for maximum performance and offers the user the fastest manufacturing technology available on the market in this performance class. Productivity has increased significantly.
With a desire to break the mold for who a griller is, designers focused this grill on an under-represented griller – those who live a space-limited urban lifestyle, with a lean toward younger and female consumers.
