Post-consumer recycled content, often referred to as ‘PCR’, is made from the items that consumers recycle every day, like aluminum cans and plastic bottles. However, clients continue to shy away from PCR materials because of perceived high costs – particularly for mass-market products where every extra cent of cost increases the selling price exponentially.
A first for a Lacie product, the Lacie mobile drive is made from aluminum with 50% ‘post-consumer recycled’ content – which in itself can be recycled again. The product’s frame contains 35% PCR-recycled ABS-recycled plastic. These figures are only a start – the beginnings of a real commitment to sustainable, circular manufacturing.
