The Adjustable Compression Technology® (A.C.T®) Base Layer began quietly: with a doctor-slash-mom of six daughters who saw the urgent need for a natural, body-first alternative to traditional period cramp relief methods. What emerged was simple and powerful: targeted compression. Responsive, intuitive, and deeply human. No wires. No pills.
Just targeted pressure applied where and when it’s needed most. After rounds of iteration and testing, we built the A.C.T® Base Layer, the first drug-free, electronics-free wearable designed to provide real-time cramp relief through adjustable compression.
A.C.T® hugs the hips and gently tightens via discreet dials placed at the lower back. This tension system gives the user full control to adjust the compression dials based on pain level, activity, or personal preference. Built from flexible performance fabrics, the functional garment fits like a second skin and can be layered under clothing without disruption or worn on its own. It’s designed to fit and function in a simple way.
Our role was to make a product that feels both invisible and indispensable. The science is mechanical. The design is emotional. This is made for those who want control. For the women who can’t sit it out when pain shows up. That meant a fabric-first strategy, rigorous testing of dial placement and torque, and materials that stretch, recover, and perform.
We engineered A.C.T® for the needs of daily life and high-stakes settings alike, whether that’s a boardroom or a battlefield. No batteries to charge. No apps to update. Just function that works because it’s built into the garment itself. From a design perspective, this was a challenge of integration. The system had to be inconspicuous enough while providing a powerful impact to help relieve the discomfort of menstrual cramps.
Every decision centred on a human need. The base layer had to move with the body. Adjustments had to be intuitive and discreet. We tested the garment across sizes, activities, and pain levels. We built out prototypes, verified them in-house, and shipped them to real testers across the country. Our current wear test is collecting journal entries, fit feedback, and adjusting data to shape what’s next.
This project isn’t about trends or hype. It’s about time. Time lost to discomfort. Time spent in bed instead of at work or on the field. We knew we couldn’t give that time back — but we could stop it from being taken again. A.C.T® is what emerged.
A.C.T® is a family of patented and patent-pending solutions, using a dial and cord system to apply precise compression. It is a Class 1 FDA-listed device and can be integrated into a range of garments and manufactured at scale.
Few projects have felt as urgent or as overdue as this one. A.C.T® is a functional garment technology that solves a neglected need with elegance and restraint. There are no distractions—just support where it counts.
But emotionally, it’s a signal — someone finally built the supportive, menstrual care apparel that’s long been missing. This isn’t just activewear with a new feature. It’s a shift in what apparel can do for women. With A.C.T®, function and care are seamlessly integrated, offering real, body-first support.
Now, brands have the chance to lead with purpose, launching a first-in-market technology that puts menstrual wellness at the centre. For future generations, supportive clothing won’t just be stylish; it will also be menstrual-smart. We believe A.C.T® belongs in leggings, in uniforms, and in gear. Not as a novelty, but as a new standard for all women, everywhere.
Because menstrual discomfort shouldn’t be sidelined. For too long, it has been something to endure quietly and not addressed directly. We built A.C.T® to change that.
