Mondi Innovations hub “Flexstudio inspire”
Exhibition & Experience Design for sustainable packaging
FlexStudios: A modular room concept as a communication tool
With FlexStudios, 3deluxe has designed a flexible, dynamic room system for Mondi that is strategically tailored to the needs and expectations of diverse visitor groups. The architecture was created in a collaborative process that included intensive workshops to integrate the company’s functional requirements and brand values into the design. The result is a modular spatial structure that is suitable for both thematic deep dives and events with up to 100 guests.
The Flexpo: Center & Exhibit
At the center of the architecture is the Flexpo, an organically shaped sculpture that defines the core of the exhibition. It not only serves as a functional space, but also as a tangible brand experience. Its surface, a custom solution, developed by the architects using a special paper product by Mondi, physically expresses the company’s innovative strength. Generous openings allow light to flood in and create flowing transitions between the exhibition and the surrounding work areas, ensuring maximum spatial flexibility, enabling to adjust to the dynamic of the conversation.
Networking of Functions & Aesthetics
The Makerspace symbolizes the dynamics of product development and promotes creative exchange through flexible modules and furnishings. This workshop area allows for the creative and collaborative development of tailored sustainable packaging solutions. In addition, the lobby serves as a visual and functional unifier of the individual design features. A vertical plant installation and a ceiling sculpture designed by 3deluxe using bright orange-colored sustainable Mondi packaging set striking accents and give the room an experimental, creative character.
A vibrant, future-oriented Concept
A modular design allows Mondi to constantly reinterpret the space, setting new standards for interactive brand spaces that promote co-creation and innovation.
Sustainability as a Spatial Experience
The architectural challenge was to translate hybrid and dynamic experiences into a homogenous spatial concept that highlights ecological advantages and promotes interdisciplinary exchange between Mondi’s departments. The topics of “sustainability” and “packaging” as well as Mondi’s brand architecture are reflected in a variety of ways in the numerous spatial functions and atmospheres, including in the organic design language or in materials such as wall coverings, furniture and carpets. The architects at 3deluxe placed a strong emphasis on the selection of sustainable materials and products in all areas. The design is also defined by materials taken directly from the world of packaging, such as wood, sculptural paper forms and lush greenery that characterizes the space. Together, these elements underscore the core themes of nature, life cycles and sustainable design.
Flexibility as a key to Interaction
The modular structure of the FlexStudios supports a wide range of scenarios: from presentations to workshops to creative work processes. The ideal environment to ideate and develop the sustainable packaging solutions of the future.
Mondi Group is one of the world’s leading packaging and paper manufacturers. The company is known for its innovative solutions and strong commitment to sustainability. Mondi is setting new standards in the industry with its goal of making all packaging fully recyclable by 2030.
