MXP660 is a TETRA based portable two-way radio designed to enable mission critical communications for frontline staff in law enforcement, fire, emergency medical, and commercial environments. Integrated LTE and Wi-Fi broadband assures a seamless connection even when TETRA coverage is not available.
Working with end users, Designers identified the following challenges:
• Develop a wearable, compact device able to deliver clear voice communication in a variety of harsh environmental conditions.
• Provide a simple interface to reduce user/device distraction and improve situational focus.
• Automatically maintain communication, in situations where default TETRA network coverage is absent, without requiring user input.
• Optimize audio performance to reduce background noise, assure call clarity/context, and improve speech intelligibility.
• Enable simple and secure collaboration with smartphones, tablets, body cameras, and audio accessories.
• Maintain compatibility with existing charging, battery, and audio accessories to optimize organization’s budgetary constraints.
The MXP660 solution provides a simple interface reducing user/device distraction and improving situational focus. The emergency button is large and easy to operate, yet well protected from accidental activation. A tactile glove-friendly push-to-talk (PTT) button along with three programmable side buttons allow users to activate frequently used functions. If there is no TETRA coverage the MXP660 automatically switches to an available broadband connection via LTE or Wi-Fi, which connects the user back to the TETRA network. This switchover requires no user intervention while providing uninterrupted connection to ensure awareness and safety.
Other Key Features
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is used to enhance noise suppression. Microphone audio is processed by the radio, transmitting the user’s voice while suppressing other sounds such as sirens, crowd noise, wind noise and machinery. The result is significantly improved voice call clarity and intelligibility, even with extreme background noise.
• Location Precision: If an emergency button or Fall Alert feature has been activated on the MXP660, it enables dispatchers to share accurate location information with front line workers, allowing help to arrive faster.
