Namwon is a city in South Korea that harbors tradition and culture as the birthplace of the Korean classic Chunhyangjeon from the Joseon Dynasty and as the home of pansori.
The city is growing into a future art city based on traditional Korean culture such as lacquer and ceramics.
The city of new potential was expressed with the slogan “Blooming,” and the meaning of blooming was expressed intuitively through the image of a flower. Using artist Kim Byeong-jong’s Hwahongsansu as a motif, the flower adds local symbolism and artistic sensibility.
The expression of the square-shaped font used with the motif sets the letters and motif in balance, and the strokes of the font extending in all directions express the geographical characteristics of the city that connect region to region.
The design was created in an expandable form that can easily deliver various values, such as “Blooming through Art,” “Blooming Future,” etc.
