One chair – stillness to movement. Standing Petanque Chair & Rocking Petanque Chair. Design by Cbastian Egeriis. My mission is to elevate simple shapes into functional furniture without losing its aesthetic value.
Idea behind the Petanque. The furniture is designed to make shapes and geometry support each other to create unique pieces. I base the Petanque Chair on a complete circular ball. In that process, my attention rests on the philosophy that the simplicity of the circle must not be lost in the organic form. I implement my organic shapes into simple geometry to achieve an elevated aesthetic union.
Stillness to movement. My ambition is to make the chairs complement each other. Standing Petanque Chair plays the part of a flirty coffee table chair and becomes the center of attention, while Rocking Petanque Chair, most likely will be placed secluded in a corner or similar – an invitation to silence and contemplation.
3D Image to production – vision to reality. I aim to produce the Petanque chairs as presented in the 3D images, but weight and balance will have an impact on the choice of materials and vice versa. The final production of the chair will be in light weight material to ensure flexible furniture, as well as focus on comfort and sustainability.
Inspiration. I was born into the Danish design history, as my father Aage Egeriis (1942-1971) was a significant and rewarded furniture designer in the 1960’s. His life ended tragically and too early, but he passed on his passion for aesthetics and design. I have been modernising my father’s design throughout the years and have also developed my own aesthetic voice.
