Coffee robotics start-up Poursteady builds upon its eight-year legacy as a cafe workhorse with the release of its new 2-cup machine PS2. Designed and developed in Brooklyn, the team of aerospace robotic engineers, designers, and coffee nerds have built a machine that delivers increased precision and control to the art of pour-over coffee.
Unlike other commercial pour-over solutions that use a showerhead disbursement for water, Poursteady honors the art and craft of pour-over by mimicking handlike pours from a gooseneck kettle. The new PS2 offers its first ever 2-cup option (which previously has had only 3- and 5-cup options) and widens the pool of potential cafe buyers.
The retail cost is approximately 50% of the previous product, broadening the purchase and adoption to both smaller cafes and extensive chains. Its new OLED screens display multiple recipe options and offer a dial to navigate selection. Furthermore, the under-counter, third-party boiler has been replaced with a tankless flow-through water heater that lives within the PS2 itself.
The PS2 brings graceful drama to the cafe counter line-up. Its signature robotic arm emulates the pour-over motion in a way that shows not only its precision but elicits the feeling of a high-end barista’s human touch (specific pour patterns are programmable). The physically sleek profile and brushed 304 stainless steel means that all attention is in on the art of the coffee making.
To match any cafe’s aesthetic, the PS2 is also available in black or white and can be powder coated in any color for custom installation. The optional recessed drip tray integrates the machine more seamlessly with the counter and the integrated boiler means no more connections to an undercounter third-party boiler. Functionally, the refined manufacturing approach minimizes visible seams while enabling easier serviceability through removable side panels.
The restrained UI on the machine preserves the timeless character of Poursteady with the seamless glass panel. The push dial interface simplifies the coffee recipe selection process while still allowing for more advanced functionality.
