To leave a beautiful planet for our loved ones in the future, we collected discarded Hyundai IONIQ parts and remade them into accessories, created a positive cycle by launching on our own Hyundai Collection Store.
This is the Re:Style keyring collection, a new value recombination of automotive wastes such as bolts, leftover leather, and wires after dismantling. Various designs such as Mommy, Daddy, Kiddo, Baby and Puppies were derived under the concept of a family to provide options that allow users to create the family they want to build.
Among many automotive parts, metal parts are likely to be discarded since it’s very hard to process them. While concerning about how not to throw these away, we found some fun characteristic features in several parts such as two ear clamps, bolts, leather, wires, so gave them a new life as accessories. In conclusion, we designed 10 upcycled characters(Mommy, Daddy, Kiddo, Baby, 2 Puppies and 4 leather keyrings) and are sharing these accessories on our own Hyundai Collection Store.
As shown in the image, more diverse parts than you can imagine form the shape of each keyring characters. We didn’t think about the shape first but narrowed down the design by playing with as many combinations of scrap materials as possible, as if playing a casual game.
Thanks to this, six family members((Mommy, Daddy, Kiddo, Baby, 2 Puppies) were born. Except for leather keyrings, all metal keyrings are made by assembling waste materials one by one by hand, making them more sensible and sturdy.
To show our sincerity toward a sustainable future, Re:Style keyrings were made using more than 80% of discarded car waste materials. Among them, the metal keyrings are all recycled parts except for the hook, and the leather pouch is also made entirely of recycled products except for the hook and zipper.
Ultimately, we hope that the Re:Style campaign will give us all the chance to think about how we can challenge our perspectives and make changes in our everyday lives today that will contribute to a more sustainable tomorrow.
