The Sentimag® Surgical Instrument Set is a bespoke range of tools for breast cancer surgery. Specially designed to work alongside a novel, magnetic-based instrument for locating tumors, the Sentimag® Set offers a more sustainable, reusable approach to polymer-based surgical instruments, while maintaining the high usability standards expected by surgeons.
Surgeons are trained on traditional metal tools that have been used for over 100 years. However, these instruments can suffer from poor ergonomics and can also be incompatible with modern surgical technologies. The polymer-based Sentimag® Surgical Instrument Set was developed to offer surgeons an effective design that improves upon the ergonomics of traditional tools, while working effectively with new surgical technologies.
Surgeons understand the feel and force required to use traditional metal surgical tools to an exact degree, relying on consistent feedback and function to ensure patient safety. The polymer-based Sentimag® Surgical Instruments feature careful design and engineering approaches to ensure they feel familiar enough to surgeons, while also being strong enough to function correctly during surgery.
The tools are designed to be used with a variety of users and on different breast cancer patients. An ergonomic design focuses on performance meeting comfort, allowing different users to handle them with ease during lengthy surgery, while maintaining a high level of control, usability and performance.
Designed for reusability, the tools allow sterile processing technicians to effectively clean every part to ensure patient safety. Built using a robust polymer, the tools are strong enough to withstand the high cleaning standards required in hospitals, allowing them to be reused safely. The Sentimag® Surgical Instruments are also manufactured using a material which can be recycled and repurposed for future use, further reducing the environmental impact of the product.
Built on direct feedback from surgeons, the Sentimag® Surgical Instrument Set is designed to achieve the high level of control, dexterity and robustness that surgeons expect from metal tools, while being compatible with novel surgical technologies. The Sentimag® instruments enable more breast cancer patients to benefit from modern surgical technologies, while their reusable design reduces the environmental impact of single use plastic in surgery.
