SLIM is a low-profile wall pack. SLIM prevents up-light with its full cutoff design. SLIM is DarkSky compliant: it minimizes glare, reduces light trespass, and does not pollute the night sky. SLIM features an innovative form and installation process, and addresses environmental concerns.
SLIM was optimized for size and weight. The fixture is half as deep as the product it replaces and weighs 36% less. This product assists in an overall reduction of the company’s carbon footprint. On average, the brand’s new products are 43% smaller and 42% lighter than previous generations.
Per year, this saves 85 tons of CO2, and 2130 tons of aluminum—enough material to produce 30 Bowing-747 planes! To reduce product SKUs, SLIM is field-adjustable; a single product can meet a wider variety of consumer needs with three selectable wattages and color temperatures. Being field adjustable offers consumers the option to consume less energy by selecting a lower power option.
Sustainability was critical when choosing SLIM’s materials and finishes. SLIM’s rear housing is made with uncoated aluminum to reduce pollutants during the finishing process. Moreover, uncoated aluminum is easier to recycle and creates less CO2 emissions during the recycling process.
The front housing is made from sustainable brass. This is 100% non-rusting, non-corroding brass which withstands rough weather conditions and will naturally patina over time. Brass is a sustainable and recyclable material, helping to reduce overall environmental impact.
For added sustainability, SLIM is shipped with recycled cardboard boxes. SLIM’s packaging contains no EPE foam or plastic bags. Instead, pulp and composite fillers are used, and nonwoven, bamboo fiber fabric.
Due to its compact form, SLIM requires less packaging material and can be transported more efficiently by shipping more product per container. To help further reduce material usage, the installation instructions for SLIM are accessed digitally, via QR code.
SLIM’s design focuses on creating an ideal installation experience. Installers can easily unfasten and open the spring-hinged housing. With a special “kick stand”, the door remains open without support from the technician for hands-free wiring.
After wiring, SLIM is hinged closed and locked into position with an innovative toolless design—revolutionary to products in this category. This process simplifies and reduces steps which saves time for the installer and reduces overall labor costs.
