“Sol@res” harmonizes with local history and landscape, evoking the architecture of fields and vineyards, and forming a symbol of new urban quality. It blends aesthetics, functionality, education, and ecology, addressing contemporary urban and social challenges. Thus emerges a new reference point—the winter heart of Rzeszów—attractive, inspiring, vibrant, and closely connected to nature.
“Sol@res” is an innovative year-round sports and recreation complex inspired by vineyards and rolling fields. Located in Rzeszów, it serves as the city’s winter heart, a place for entertainment, regeneration, and sustainable architecture. The project strengthens local identity, promotes the region, and enhances tourism appeal.
The design mimics vast fields through roofs and terraces arranged like vineyard rows. Its modular, fractal structure allows flexibility and future expansion. South-facing roofs optimize solar exposure, supporting extensive photovoltaic integration. The highest roof hosts a main solar farm, while shed-style lower roofs maximize energy capture. Photovoltaic panels are also used as façade cladding and in planned solar canopies over parking areas. Ground-integrated solar modules on southern slopes further enhance energy efficiency.
Advanced glazing, including quantum dot glass, generates electricity while optimizing daylighting. The pool hall’s ETFE foil roof adjusts transparency, controlling heat gain and allowing natural tanning through UV-B radiation. The building’s orientation maximizes solar benefits: morning sun lights sports pools, midday sun reaches recreational pools, and evening sun enhances the saunarium experience.
Functionally, “Sol@res” is designed for all users, regardless of age, fitness level, or weather. It features recreational, sports, and thermal pools, a children’s zone with beaches and interactive attractions, and EduBox spaces fostering creativity and parent-child interaction. The children’s area is positioned for easy supervision from relaxation and dining zones.
The Wodeon Business Zone is a multifunctional space for films, concerts, sports events, and business meetings. The Winne Saunarium draws from local winemaking traditions, offering sauna rituals, hydromassage pools, and the immersive SAUNA HEKSAGON. An integral feature of the outdoor sauna garden is a retention reservoir in a canyon-like form, collecting rainwater for redistribution across green areas. This element merges sustainability with architectural beauty.
The site is divided into three zones: a sports-educational segment with parking and plazas, a northwestern saunarium area with gardens and rainwater retention, and a southern recreational space with outdoor pools and beaches. The complex employs natural ventilation, windbreaks for outdoor pools, and cutting-edge materials like ETFE films and quantum dot glass.
“Sol@res” seamlessly integrates architecture with nature, embodying a new urban quality that unites aesthetics, functionality, education, and ecology. It emerges as Rzeszów’s winter heart—vibrant, inspiring, and deeply sustainable.
