Through parallel sketching, ideation and prototyping, they produced a refined, durable, and functional knife block concept the designers were able to manufacture on-site in their Portland, Oregon factory. In the manufacturing and engineering area, one of the achievements has been placement of the optimum number of magnets and shapes at the right locations and depth in the board. The final design is with 21 1” magnets in 3 staggered rows at depth of 13mm. This unique configuration gives the optimum pull and hold strength while also adapting to different knife sizes and formats.
