Abstracta, in collaboration with designer Khodi Feiz, introduces Vika, a groundbreaking solution that combines sound and light management to create tranquil environments. This sculptural floor screen serves dual functions as an acoustic and lighting solution, enhancing ambiance by controlling noise and providing atmospheric light.
Vika features an elegant oblong form made from sound-absorbing felt folded into a wing shape, effectively encapsulating sound while concealing its light source.
The screen’s indirect lighting fosters a cozy, inspiring atmosphere. The core, partially made from recycled PET bottles, is covered with Texfel acoustic felt. Ideal for dividing large spaces into smaller, quieter areas, Vika is perfect for open-plan offices, co-working spaces, and lobbies. “I envision it in cafés, restaurants, meeting rooms, and even homes, where it adds a warm, inviting ambiance,” says Feiz.
Vika is available in two floor screen sizes and a ceiling-mounted version. The floor screens come in smaller (427 x 1540 x 231 mm) and larger (1180 x 1540 x 231 mm) versions, both featuring 12V plastic LED tubes and various color options affecting the light’s character.
The ceiling-mounted version (1500 x 155 x 283 mm) provides effective lighting over desks and meeting tables with adjustable height wires.
Vika’s design efficiently dampens both low- and high-frequency sounds while emitting atmospheric light, significantly improving acoustic environments. “Vika’s impact on space acoustics and mood is surprisingly high due to its simple yet effective design,” says Erik Graesén, Product Development Manager at Abstracta.
Khodi Feiz’s design philosophy focuses on simplicity and functionality, making Vika both functional and emotionally engaging. “Vika represents an entirely different way of thinking about acoustics and light,” states Feiz.
