The new model also features built-in demand response intelligence. Homeowners can easily align with their local utility to save more money by prioritizing reheating when electric rates are the lowest and limiting operation during peak electric rates. The Voltex AL HPWH comes with anti-leak technology supported through the unit’s fully integrated iCOMM™ connectivity platform, which sends notifications through A. O. Smith’s mobile app in the event of a detected leak. These notifications allow homeowners to immediately contact a technician, preventing damage and extending the life of the unit. Homeowners can also use the app to remotely monitor and adjust the water heater to improve performance and increase savings.

In an additional effort to preserve the Voltex AL unit long-term, A. O. Smith introduced a unique smart anode, which adapts to local water conditions to prevent corrosion, extend the life of the unit, and notify the homeowner when it needs to be replaced.
