The WaveFlyer Volaré, an electric hydrofoil two-seater by WaveFlyer, gracefully soars above water, providing an exhilarating and eco-conscious journey. The Electro Nautic Team, fueled by their deep affinity for the ocean like many Australians, poured their dedication into the innovative Volaré. Collaborative research between the University of Western Australia and Electro Nautic birthed this electric hydrofoil, combining captivating aesthetics, unmatched uniqueness, and sheer excitement. Crafted with a dedication to shared experiences and sustainability, the Volaré seamlessly blends aesthetics and practicality.
Offering side-by-side seating for two and over four hours of battery life, it ensures both pleasure and efficiency. Driven by a vision beyond themselves, the team behind the creation believes in luxury recreational users and rental fleets as their focus. They see their cutting-edge technology and eco-friendly ethos revitalizing watercraft rentals. Through promoting a circular economy, their aim is to create a genuinely sustainable product, considering the economic contexts of the regions they serve. Their goal involves nurturing local manufacturing to rejuvenate these areas and reduce ocean pollution by embracing electric vehicles.
Originally designed for solo exploration, the Volaré underwent a transformative evolution. Collaborating closely with customers, the Electro Nautic team embraced the value of shared experiences. This led to a redesign that accommodates side-by-side seating and incorporates drone technology for a smooth, wakeless voyage. Drawing inspiration from electric vehicle advancements, the craft features software updates and remote monitoring to ensure performance and safe navigation. With a cruising speed of 12 knots and a capped top speed of 22 knots, the Volaré’s hydrofoil provides both tranquility and thrill, covering 100 kilometers in range.
The retractable foils seamlessly transition the hull, enabling agile navigation over reefs and onto beaches. Whether exploring waterways or cruising open seas, the Volaré offers an effortless experience akin to a self-driving car. Shift to cruise mode for relaxation, retract the foils for beachside leisure, or engage in performance mode for an exhilarating adventure. The team encourages customers to boldly explore the full potential of this craft.
Already operational in Australia, the Volaré has garnered interest from rental fleets along the country’s coasts and has ignited enthusiasm in Europe and the United States for its environmentally conscious technology. In the spirit of UN Sustainable Development Goals, Electro Nautic is committed to combating marine pollution and incorporating recycled materials in production. In Joshua & Michael’s words, “Presenting our Australian innovation to the world fills us with pride. We’re showcasing the power of determination, resilience, and a vision for a sustainable future. Our passion resonates in interactions with customers. We aim to create a community using innovative technology to protect oceans—for themselves and for generations to come.”
