The Widex SmartRIC is a revolution in hearing aid performance and design. Created to overcome one of the most reported challenges for hearing aid users: hearing in noisy environments.
Widex SmartRIC is built upon the company’s PureSound™ with ZeroDelay™ technology platform that has set new industry standards for natural hearing. PureSound with ZeroDelay delivers the fastest sound processing in a digital hearing aid to eliminate the tinny, artificial sound commonly associated with other hearing aids – creating a more natural, true-to-life listening experience.
Its pioneering ‘L-shape’ is a classic story of ‘form follows function.’ Placing the microphones at an improved angle creates a better signal-to-noise ratio that makes speech more prominent and reduces background noise. This means that the microphones are better aligned with the user’s primary focus, enhancing directionality and improving signal-to-noise ratio.
This allows better speech targeting to help wearers connect with the world around them. The microphones have also been redesigned to be more protective against wind and handling noise, eliminating what is often a significant nuisance for wearers.
The aids’ body is kept slim and sleek due to a new, high powered but compact battery, resulting in the slimmest RIC in the Widex portfolio. The battery can last up to 37 hours, outpacing competition in the Slim RIC category.
Together with audiologists and end users in multiple countries, Widex conducted several design iterations and comfort tests, which resulted in SmartRIC’s unique ‘L-shaped’ design.
This form factor therefore not only delivers improved hearing performance, but is also stylish and comfortable, even whilst wearing glasses.
Widex SmartRIC also comes with a sleek, compact portable charger that can charge the hearing aids in 4 hours, while a 30-minute fast charge option provides 4 hours of continuous use. The rechargeable case offers 5 full charges and fits easily into a pocket or small bag, empowering wearers with more than a week of hassle-free, mobile charging.
The power status of the hearing aids and the charger battery are displayed via discreet LEDs. Additional LEDs on the hearing aids also show when the devices are switched on.
