Block is a dining chair that explores the intersection of strict geometry and human ergonomics. At its core is a solid ash wood frame constructed from simple orthogonal components. While the form is visibly minimal, the experience of sitting reveals a surprising softness and support — achieved through a three-dimensionally curved seat and backrest made from bent beech plywood, finished with ash veneer.

This project began with a clear challenge: how to design a chair with a clean, orthogonal silhouette that does not compromise on comfort. The result is a thoughtful balance between structure and fluidity. The seat and backrest are subtly curved along multiple axes, adding elegance and ergonomic precision to the otherwise rational frame.

Block is not only about form — it’s also a response to the realities of modern production and global logistics. The chair is manufactured using an efficient construction system that minimises waste and simplifies assembly. We developed an original three-part design, in which the chair consists of three main elements: the back legs with the backrest, the seat, and the front legs. These parts are easily connected using bolts and a hex key. The system is intuitive, robust, and allows for quick disassembly and replacement of individual components over time, significantly extending the product’s lifespan and reducing environmental impact.

Many chairs have explored the minimalist, rectilinear archetype. Yet few manage to remain true to it while offering genuine comfort. Block was made possible thanks to advanced plywood forming techniques, enabling the integration of ergonomically complex surfaces into a rigid, orthogonal structure — without visual noise or added detail.

Suitable for both residential and commercial use, Block is designed to endure. Its materials are durable, its construction robust, and its silhouette timeless. It fits effortlessly into both classic and contemporary interiors, offering a universal language of design and function.
