HORACIO is a bench for two people, for use in living rooms, covered balconies, or bedrooms.

The designers were motivated to create this piece because they wanted a bench with a seat in a different shape. They liked the curves, the asymmetry, the light, the rounded back, and the visible inserts. The challenge was to find the proportionality of the piece as a whole, even with the asymmetry – backrest, seats, arms, and legs, and also to achieve the sensation of pleasantness of the curves and rounding.

All made of raw Amazonian Freijó wood, of legal origin, this bench has an organic, light, and innovative design, continuous lines and rounded corners. All curvatures are handmade. The shape of the bench is asymmetrical, both in the backrest and in the seat. The seat is split. The backrest and armrests are united in a single structure.

The piece highlights the natural tones and designs of the wood, without the use of toners. For the production of this piece, the following materials were used: raw wood, glue, and tung oil (they did not use any components that are aggressive to the environment). The feet and seats are in raw FREIJÓ wood, showing its natural tones and designs. It can also be produced in Catuaba, an Amazonian species of little use in the furniture industry.

The manufacturing process is handmade, with the adoption of traditional woodworking practices. The cutting of the wood is done with the support of molds. The fine adjustment of the fittings and the rounding of the entire piece are done manually. Finally, there are successive sandings until reaching an extremely fine finish. The apparent fitting of the backrest appears as an aesthetic detail in the piece.

The finishes used on the pieces are based on tung oil*, carnauba wax, and beeswax. They offer protection and value to the wood and the work carried out in it. They are raw materials of renewable origin, with low environmental impact and biodegradability (Tungue does not contain solvents that harm nature). Resistant and durable, perfect for protecting objects and wooden furniture, they do not stain with water. They protect and enhance the wood and the work done with it because they maintain its natural appearance and beauty. The woods used in our pieces present their natural colors, without any dyes or tonalizers.
