The Mira Select Flex Mixer Shower delivers an interpretation of a traditional concentric surface-mounted mixer with an emphasis on inclusivity. The design references the familiarity of interaction typical of concentric mixers but also expands the range of tactile and visual cues to aid user navigation.
This creates a more accessible experience, catering for a broad range of visual impairments, central to usability whether standing, seated, or by assisted showering.
The design prevents a user from touching the incoming hot water pipe and hence is cool to the touch.
The form is easier to keep clean.
To provide consumers who have a diverse range of visual and dexterity capabilities with a product which is both an accessible and flexible showering experience and to cater for multi-generational households.
By concealing the prevailing exposed and visible plumbing connections, the product is easier to clean and cool to the touch.
The shower rail flexibly caters for standing and seated users alike referencing the consistent touch point colour and finish to assist with navigation and usability.
To support the user there is also a braille product user guide and an audio user guide provided free of charge.
Impact: The product will enable all consumers including consumers who previously may have been marginalised through a decline in their capabilities, to engage with a showering experience which meets their needs.
Colours, materials, and finishes (CMF): The combination of CMF and tactile and audible cues and the absence of mirror finishes, cater primarily for impaired vision as distinct from any current competitor products in this sector.
Interaction: Navigation of the shower controls is simple, direct, intuitive, and safe. All interaction points are visually consistent whether the flow lever control, the hand shower mode change button, or the handle to adjust the height of the hand shower.
The selection of flow and temperature can be selected and left as a preference as the product is turned on/off (paused) by the large button. This is a feature that can be utilised by assisted showering when a carer is involved.
