With the development of the new Tojo cabinet, designer Bastian Prieler has achieved a real stroke of genius. The structure of the individual body elements is based on a clever corner connection, which eliminates the need for screws. The Tojo cabinet is simply put together and the included Allen keys are used to fix the individual parts.
These are inserted into the cutouts provided and thus firmly connect the individual body elements to one another. The only time you can‘t avoid using a screwdriver is to install the door hinges. The milled recessed handles support the simple look of the wardrobe made of white-coated, 19 mm MDF. The individual cabinet element is 100 cm wide, 60 cm deep and has a height of 220 cm. The Tojo cabinet can stand alone or be expanded in width as desired. The individual cabinet modules are flexibly equipped with shelves. In addition, a shelf with a clothes rail is always supplied.
For large cabinets, solutions must be taken into account that ensure dismantling. We have set ourselves the task of developing a corner construction that can be put together easily and stably without tools.
The focus was not to use any adhesives or screws, but only loose parts! This means that no composite materials are created and the elements can be separated cleanly.
It was also important that the cabinet could be built up and down from the inside of the body.
The product and the innovative corner connection result from the properties of the material. The densely pressed MDF board allows for intelligent milling, which we have made fully usable in the design. Only an Allen angle is used for fixing! The supposed tool is the actual connection.
The primary approach is to reduce the components! We forgo standard corner fittings and instead use the sides and bottoms themselves as a structure. The reduction of fittings shows that connections that we know from classic craftsmanship (e.g. tines) can also be meaningfully reinterpreted using CNC machines. The user has the advantage of being able to assemble and dismantle the cabinet without tools, as well as expand it infinitely.
Tojo stands for design-oriented, reduced products. In addition to the appearance, the reduction is also reflected in the design. By looking for simpler approaches to solving problems, the corner solution makes it relevant and communicates that even eliminating practiced fittings can lead to logical and simpler approaches.
A new construction for corpus furniture that can be reversibly used individually in the flat pack area. The separation of the individual components and the firm but loose connection as well as the timeless look automatically leads to a long companion that can be converted and expanded.
