When it comes to deck railings, cable and glass are among the hottest styles with today’s homeowners but also among the most difficult to specify –until now. Performance-engineered to increase outdoor sophistication and style X-potentially, Trex Signature® X-Series™ Railing offers specialty railing options for premium deck builds that blend modern minimalism with simplified installation.
Launched in July 2024, the Trex Signature X-Series addresses a number of common pain points related to cable and glass railings. Differentiating these offerings in the marketplace is the X-Series™ post, which anchors the system. This versatile component not only accommodates stainless-steel cables or frameless glass panels but was also intentionally designed to accept a variety of infills and attachments for future additions to the X-Series line.
Furthermore, with its modular design, the X-Series Post can be used as an end, line or corner post, offering optimal flexibility for installers and laying the foundation for a SKU-efficient approach to railing for Trex distributors and dealers.
In addition to the innovative X-Series Post, the system incorporates several design advancements that provide installation and performance advantages over competing products, including spring-loaded cables for improved tension management that reduces sagging over time, push-to-connect fittings that eliminate the need for swaging or crimping, and novel ball ends that allow cables to swivel in any direction, accommodating both horizontal runs and stair angles with ease.
Adding further to their appeal, X-Series Railings are sold in easy-to-order kits for simple specification and shipping. Cable Rail kits include everything in one box for spans up to 18′, including thinner pass-through posts to support cables between anchor posts. Frameless Glass Rail is sold in a one-size-fits-all infill kit.
“Cable rail is a complicated specialty segment that has historically been a source of frustration for contractors,” explained Adam Zambanini, COO for Trex Company. “Our X-Series system not only simplifies specification and installation for cable railing but also affords the flexibility to mix and match different types of railing infills between posts, giving our customers even more style choices to achieve their desired outdoor aesthetic.”
Made for longevity and ease of maintenance, Trex Signature X-Series Railings feature powder-coated aluminum frames made to withstand harsh weather conditions and decades of use. Glass systems boasts ½” laminated glass panels, while cable hardware is made from premium-grade stainless steel for corrosion resistance, even in marine and coastal environments. A simple rinse with soap and water is all it takes to keep Trex railings looking pristine.
With sustainability a growing priority among today’s builders and homeowners, Trex Signature X-Series Railings offer eco-friendly options that can help builders earn points toward LEED certification. The aluminum framing components are made from a minimum of 40% recycled content and are 100% recyclable. Additionally, Trex’s production processes are designed to minimise waste and environmental impact.
Trex Signature X-Series Railings offer the perfect combination of durability, design versatility, easy installation and sustainability—plus they are backed by a 50-year limited warranty.
