The MAGNUM chaise longue, designed by the AKIRO agency and manufactured in France by CYRIA, embodies an innovative approach to urban furniture. Its ergonomic and nature-inspired design transforms public spaces into valued areas for relaxation, while addressing contemporary challenges of sustainable development. MAGNUM is conceived to enhance the daily urban experience by combining aesthetics, comfort, and high performance.
The shape of the MAGNUM chaise longue is directly inspired by organic curves found in nature. Its smooth, flowing lines evoke pebbles, sand dunes, and plant forms, creating a calming and soothing atmosphere. This biomorphic design approach strengthens users’ sense of well-being by reintroducing a natural and intuitive spatial language into otherwise mineral and structured urban environments. Ergonomically designed, the inclined seat supports a relaxed and comfortable posture, ideal for extended use. MAGNUM thus becomes both a functional seating solution and a visual landmark, capable of structuring and enhancing outdoor layouts.
MAGNUM is built using a careful selection of robust and eco-responsible materials. The frame is available in powder-coated steel or Corten steel, a self-weathering alloy known for its corrosion resistance, making it ideal for heavy-duty outdoor use with no need for additional surface treatment.
This material provides a technical yet expressive presence, while minimising maintenance needs. The seating surface is crafted from solid wood or FSC-/PEFC-certified exotic hardwoods, ensuring traceability and long-term sustainable forestry practices. The entire piece is engineered to withstand harsh weather conditions and reduce maintenance operations over time. MAGNUM fully meets today’s requirements for eco-design and durable urban furniture.
Designed as a structural element for outdoor layouts, the MAGNUM chaise longue can be installed as a standalone piece or integrated into broader compositions alongside benches, planters, platforms, or tables. Its modularity and wide range of finish options allow seamless adaptation to various settings: parks, promenades, pedestrian zones, esplanades, urban beaches, or company outdoor relaxation areas. With its simple yet distinctive geometry, MAGNUM fits as well in natural landscaped projects as in dense urban contexts. It reflects a holistic project logic, where urban furniture becomes a functional, aesthetic, and sustainable lever for enhancing quality of life in the city.
The bench is designed with both durability and aesthetics in mind, featuring dimensions of 1910 mm in length, 650 mm in depth, a total height of 763 mm, and a seat height of 370 mm.
The structure is available in either powder-coated steel, finished in a RAL color of your choice from the CYRIA color chart, or in raw, self-patinating Corten steel. The seat can be crafted from FSC- or PEFC-certified exotic hardwood or European solid wood, with an optional autoclave treatment for enhanced durability.
Fixing options include anchoring with bolts or chemical anchoring into a concrete base, depending on the site configuration.
For finish and protection, painted steel versions receive a high-durability, UV-resistant polyester powder coating, while wood components are treated with NATIXT natural vegetable oil. The Corten steel is delivered either pre-patinated or in its natural weathering phase.
This bench is ideally suited for public and private gardens, urban squares, pedestrian zones, seafronts, riversides, university campuses, outdoor rest areas in business parks or waiting zones, as well as biophilic design projects and sustainable environmental planning.
