ThinkBook Plus Rollable, the flagship of the ThinkBook series at Lenovo, is the world’s first motor-driven rollable notebook. It has a 13.9-inch compact and flexible body for carrying and normal daily use. With a simple gesture or a tap on the keyboard, its high-resolution, flexible POLED screen automatically expands into a 16.7-inch vertical display nearly twice the size of the original screen size. Which allows users achieve their dreams that carry small, use big.
The vertical screen is better suited for more scenarios, such as watching TikTok’s vertical videos or looking at your friend that his eyes are level with yours on a face-to-face immersive video call. Larger display can also place more apps’ windows side by side for multitasking.
Of course, such a novel product will always cause a lot of social topics for getting more attention, even allowing you make more new friends… unlike the folding screen tablets on the market, ThinkBook Plus Rollable does not sacrifice its performance for bigger screen. It equips with the latest high-performance NPU and graphic card, full-size keyboard, large force pad, HD camera and longer battery life as well as built-in advanced AI tools, is a truly flexible display productivity tool that brings extraordinary experiences to hybrid mobile work.
ThinkBook Plus Rollable continues minimalist aesthetic with a sculptural form. It has a delicate and sophisticated mechanism to support its function, which brings it more exterior parts than a normal notebook. However, the basic design elements of ThinkBook Plus Rollable are just rectangular, round, capsule and parallel lines, which gives it a minimalist look that is completely different from its complex moving structures.
It also has all-metal CNC unibody cases with a silky touch anodised matte skin, and only a part of the outer surface is embellished with delicate CNC high-speed cutting hairline and spin texture. When the lid together with the display raise up, the delicate de bossed 3D textured stripes underneath the lid are revealed, which are not only for aesthetic purposes, but also to help conduct interior heat as well as reduce the weight of the part.
The laptop’s colour is a neutral Luna grey which makes it look low-key, elegant, and quietly blending into its surroundings. From the form to the colour, Plus6 has followed principle of restrained design. The designers hope that when users see it, they will not be disturbed by its complicated appearance and operation, but will focus their attention on the content of what they are working on itself.
When it comes to mobile devices, there’s always a tension between portability and productivity. People always want to be able to deform their laptops freely, to be a little smaller and lighter to carry, and to use them with as much performance – especially the screen – as strong as possible.
It sounds like a science fiction story. But thanks to the boundless creativity of the designers – who are always obsessed with turning dreams into reality – after two years of hard work, through various materials, solutions and experiments, the cross function team finally broke through the space limitations of traditional notebooks and integrated a large screen and an automated drive system composed of a set of mechanism of ropes and pulleys into the small body of a notebook that was only half the size of its display, and successfully achieved mass production.
This design not only does not reduce the performance and efficiency of the device due to the occupied space, but also can maintain the stable run of this complex system for a long time.
Besides, in order to reduce material waste, energy consumption and carbon footprint, all metal shells of the ThinkBook Plus Rollable are made of 100% lightweight and environmentally friendly recyclable aluminum and hydroelectric aluminum, some plastic parts are made of bio-based plastic materials, and the packaging materials are biodegradable. ThinkBook Plus laptops are keeping supporting Lenovo’s vision of achieving zero emissions by 2050.
Different from other notebook products on the market, ThinkBook Plus Rollable has created a new notebook category. It not only meets the needs of individual users but also provides businesses and organisations with more efficient productivity tools through breakthrough innovative design and AI features, which can help drive productivity and digital transformation across industries.
Under the trend of AI is sweeping the world, through this product, the designer integrates technology, aesthetics and user experience, exploring the possible impact of technology on the way we live and work. Lenovo hopes that this innovative design will not only attract the attention of technology enthusiasts, but also stimulate the public’s thinking and imagination of future lifestyles, and actively participate in promoting the development of technology culture.
